Things You Need to Know About Roofing

How many bids should I get?
We recommend getting three bids.
Can I get a new roof in winter?
Absolutely! We are a Western Washington roofing company that works year-round and knows how to deal with challenging weather. We normally only need one decent weather day to tear off and “dry in” your roof. After that, it can rain all it wants and your home will stay cozy and dry while we finish installing your new roof.
What is your process for free estimates?
Once you call us to request an estimate, an estimator will be assigned to contact you to discuss your project and schedule a FREE onsite estimate. The estimator will arrive with a bid folder that will contain copies of our master license, security bond, liability coverage, and industry insurance coverage to show you our credentials. Once the analysis is complete, the estimator will provide a thorough written estimate.
When can you start?
Any good roofing company should have a lead time of 4-12 weeks, depending on time of year. Demand is always high for our services; so, even though there are roofing companies that can start next week, we are worth the wait.

How long will it take to get a new roof?
This will depend on the size, pitch and complexity of your roof. Small to medium size houses usually take 1-3 days. Larger projects can take up to a week, or even more.
Do you have your own crews?
All of our crews are full-time, year-round, highly trained employees. We never subcontract and have very little turnover; in fact, many of our roofers have been with us for years. We always have a long list of roofer applicants, but we are very selective in our hiring. The best roofers want to have a career with us because we take excellent care of our employees.

What We Deliver

From your estimate to your final bill, we’re here to serve you every step of the way. 

Dedicated Estimator

Once you contact us with your roofing needs, we will send one of our certified estimators to survey the project. During this process, they’ll explain to you what needs to be done and answer any questions you may have.

Customized Proposal

We’ll draft up a thorough, written estimate explaining each part of the project. This will include step-by-step details of what the project entails.

Peace of Mind

We’ll provide you with copies of our master license, security bond, liability coverage and industrial insurance coverage to show you our credentials to put your mind at ease. We’re licensed and protected to protect you!

Getting to Work

Once an estimate is agreed upon, we will begin working on your project. This step is crucial in maintaining the workflow of the whole project. Materials will be ordered, scheduling will be set and roofing teams will be assigned.

Drop-off Materials

Our staff will come dressed professionally wearing Achten’s uniforms to drop-off any facilities and all equipment needed to finish the job. They will stage the roofing area on the ground to ensure that your home is protected during the roofing process.

Clearing the Premises

We’ll clear all facilities, equipment and remnants once the job is completed so you can start enjoying your new roof immediately.

Within 2 weeks Chris then fit my roof in and Milan came the next day to do my gutters! The quote was very detailed and they prepared me for any extra expenses that could pop up. Chris sent me picture proof of issues that did come up and I gave my approval. They texted me throughout everything which worked great for my schedule. I was so stressed about getting a roof but these guys made it such a great experience. The payment options were great also, made to fit any budget! The installation went great.Ray communicated well and even went above and beyond to try and match the existing shingle type and color. His methods included a safe approach both for him and our home. They look great and work well. No leaks, I think we got these installed just in a nick of time before the weather changed.

Achten's installed our new DaVinci roof and I must say they did a great job. The roof looks great. They not only did a great job with the install but they made sure to not damage the plants around the house as well as cleaning up everything perfectly after their job was complete. They came back Saturday morning to complete the cleanup rather than rushing it up on Friday evening. Eddie our contact at Achten's was great and kept us informed along the way answering our questions. Overall I am very pleased and wish I could get this service quality from all the contractors that have been working on our house.

Achten's did a fantastic job! I can't recommend them more highly. They tore off my old composite shingle roof, replaced it with a metal roof, and changed the attic ventilation method. Their office staff were always communicative. The roofers were careful with all of the plants that I have around my house. My yard was very well cleaned-up after each day of work. All workers were friendly and respectful the whole time. The roofers worked hard and took the time to do everything right, carefully, such as managing my old, brittle vinyl siding successfully. When they came back to add the attic venting, they even cleaned up my ancient insulation for me (in a hot, stuffy, dark attic) and were super careful to not to track any debris through my house. The roofing crew seemed to get along really well among themselves, too, which says a lot to me: they likely are treated well and enjoy their jobs, so do even better work for clients. Really, all-around, this was a great experience!

Achten did a great job on our new roof. We contracted them almost immediately upon moving into our new home. While we were waiting, we had a leak. I texted our contact and he was able to send someone out next day to tarp the roof.We had to wait longer than expected due to supply issues for the shingles we wanted. Once the supplies were in stock and delivered, however, they were able to get us on the schedule within a week and had the roof on in one day.The men who came out to do the install were great. Highly professional and kind. They even used a magnet to pick up any dropped nails or other metal items in the yard.

I really had a great experience with Atchen's! Their bid was the best of the 3 I received (and the only one that listened to me and included a replacement skylight!). Gary included a ton of supporting material to help in the decision process and revised it when asked without delay! After contracting with them, they kept me well informed during the 4 weeks until job start. Once started it was fast, efficient and cleanly done. (I think I found only 2 nails they missed!) Good job! Follow up after the work was completed has been excellent. I'm also happy to report after today's big rainstorm, everything worked flawlessly! VERY HAPPY CUSTOMER!!!! 😀

I had a very good experience with Achten's. They came recommended by another roofing company who didn't do the specialty work I needed. Achten's bid was very competitive, their salesperson was knowledgeable, experienced, and polite, and didn't exert the pressure that many other estimators did. Their operations manager and other office staff were responsive, polite, and fair, and the work crews did excellent work, going out of their way to make everything perfect before they left. I would hire them again and recommend them without reservation.

We couldn't be happier with our new roof from Achten's. From the initial sales visit with Larry to the final install with their crew everything went about as smooth as one could ask for. The roofing crews were polite, professional and made it a point to clean up at the end of the day. They were quick to answer any questions we had. If you want a company that does a great job, stands by their products and have a fair price, compared to the 8 other quotes we got, you won't go wrong with Achtens. Also their seamless gutter sub contractor is top notch as well.

I have used Achten's twice to replace my shed roofs. I appreciated that they were willing to come out and do a small job not once but twice! Workers both times were professional and efficient. I would absolutely use them again. Only regret on my last shed is I didn't keep a few extra shingles "just in case"!

Called three roofing companies to give us a bid on a new roof and Achten's was the only one to show up. Carl was great to work with, he's knowledgeable and answered all our questions. He was also very patient as we discussed and figured out which roof and color we wanted. We went out of town during the time the roof was replaced and pleasantly surprised when we came home and find the roof completed and the job site cleaned up. The new gutters and downspouts were installed a couple of days later and they did a great job. I'd recommend Achten's to anyone looking for a good roofing company.Thank you to Carl and the Achten's crew. We appreciate the work you did for us.

Everything I experienced and witnessed was professional, done with pride and precision. I was kept informed by the company and crew each step of the project. The crew that you had work on my house re-roof was very hard working and did excellent cleanup each day. You could see the pride they had working for your company. The scope of my project changed with having to replace all the plywood. The entire process, removal of old roofing & plywood timing of new product delivery was smooth and didn't slow the completion. I had a complete tear off, reinstall of my roof, with new gutters finished shortly before a heavy rain. Highly recommend this company.

Achten's Quality Roofing is as good as it gets. The project manager was friendly and honest, telling us what he thought needed to be done to reroof my 25 year old home. He called the day before the work could start to give us a heads up; the crew arrived the next morning. They were polite and professional. Care was taken to protect our home; tarps were laid down to collect debris but were unneeded. All old shingles and tar paper were removed and thrown into a trailer; there was nothing thrown into the yard. That afternoon the new shingles arrived and were carefully placed on the roof. The next morning the crew arrived as scheduled and worked all day until the job was done. Then they carefully scanned the yard for nails and swept the patio and sidewalk and drove off leaving nothing behind except a beautiful new roof. I will recommend Achten's Quality Roofing to anyone needing a new roof.

This company did a great job on our roofs. We had three roofs to upgrade after living in our home for 16 years. Dave came in with a honest and low quote right from the start.. I would like to thank Dave for showing us the options, potential issues that might arise, potential changes the cost, and being there to explain what they found and the remedy. We covered the cost, what the potential cost could be if boards needed replaced and that way when we did find issues there were not surprises. Dave personally came to the site several times to make sure everything was correct. We re-roofed the house to sell it and Dave even met with the new home owners to show then all the work that was done to GAF certify the roof for 20 years. We had three quotes from well-known companies and none of them mentioned the potential issues, and one was double the cost in there estimate. The company that quoted double the cost offered to match Achten’s bid after they heard they lost and that is just shady business. We are very impressed with the Achten’s roofing team and would suggested this to anyone.

Experience Achten's was positive. Very helpful, accomplished all goals, helped with insurance, very professional. Even with all the inclement weather, still a very positive experience. I've been dreading having my roof replaced for the past 3 years, but I finally bit the bullet and selected my roofer. I’m very glad to say that I interviewed roofers most of the summer and I'm very happy I selected Achten's. The estimator and foreman were polite and efficient. The work crew was just as polite and hard working. Even though it was rainy, they showed up everyone morning, some morning they had to wait in the car due to a down pour, but they didn't give up. When the rain slowed down, they were working.My roof is beautiful and the crew left my yard and deck neat as a pin. Thank you, Achten's!
